Jagan Institute of Management Studies (JIMS) is a private college in Rohini, New Delhi. The college is recognized by Bar Council of India and was established in the year 1993. It is in affiliation to the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University approved by AICTE and Accredited Grade ‘A’ by NAAC. The institute offers undergraduate and postgraduate education in the fields of Management and Information Technology. JIMS Rohini since its establishment has always worked for the attainment of the mission which is aimed to develop highly skilled and professional resource for industry and business.

ABOUT THE COURSE

The Master of Computer Application (MCA) is 2 years (6 semesters) undergraduate programme which imparts strong foundation of basic and core concepts of Information Technology (IT) and lays emphasis on the web and networking concepts.

During the course students cover various subjects such as Computer Architecture, Computer Network, Technical Communication, Digital Electronics, Database Management System, Object-Oriented Programming through C++, JAVA, Web Technologies, Principles of Management etc.

STRUCTURE OF THE COURSE

The MCA course is divided into 2 years and further divided into 6 semesters. An academic calendar consists of 2 semesters of working duration of about 21 weeks and each paper consists of theory as well as practical subjects

OBJECTIVE

The objective of this course is to impart the basic and core concepts of Information and Technology to prepare students for tomorrow and equipping them today with adequate learning in the fast development IT sector in India by providing them understanding and skills related to the use of Technology and its applications. It also aims to open channel of admission for students who are interested in taking computing as a career.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

• A candidate eligible for admission to the 3-year MCA postgraduate degree course must have completed graduation in B.Sc./B.Sc. (Hons)/BCA/BIT/B.Voc. in Computer Science /Computer Applications of minimum three years from a recognized University with Mathematics/Statistics as one of the subjects.

OR

• The candidate must have completed B.E./B.Tech from a recognized University.

ADMISSION PROCESS

• The candidates must apply through NIT MCA (Common Entrance Test) conducted by National Institute of Technology for the admission to the MCA course.
• The candidates who meet the minimum eligibility criteria is then required to attend the counselling session for further screening process.
• The candidates who qualify NIMCET are only eligible for the admission in the college.

After the IPU CET, all india rank is given to all candidates. The cut off for admission is decided as per counselling process. The cut off are different for Delhi Quota and non Delhi Quota students. Usually, cut off is higher ( means lesser competition) for Delhi region candidate vis a vis Outside Delhi candidates. For management quota seats, admissions are given on criteria set up by institute . The appearance in IPU CET is mandatory to be eligible for management quota seats.
