The foundation stone of this College was led by eminent and honorable society - Maharaja Agrasen Technical Education Society. The college is promoted by a group of famous Businessman, Industrialists, Professionals and Philanthropists. The college is affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi. The aim for promoting this college includes with an aim to promote quality education. The college is willing to become an agent of promoting learning in the field of Technology and Management. Besides then, MAIT has reflected strength to strength to become as one of the most prestigious technical institutes not only among the private Institutes but also among top engineering Institutes. Furthermore the college has been promoted and ranked amongst the top engineering Institutes by DATAQUEST.The Institute is approved by All India Council for Technical Education. MAIT’s campus consist of ten blocks including Admin Block with well equipped modern laboratories,an intellectually stocked Learning Resource Centre, Wi-Fi connectivity, with Boys Hostel,  Gym, books, E-Resources, and Auditorium.To make successful lasting relations with big Industries, MAIT associate closely with top industries to maintain close relations in fulfilling the social responsibility of providing industry relevant technical education as well as training.

The institute started with enthusiasm in 1999. The first batch of this College comprise 180 B.Tech. students. There has been tremendous growth from 1999 and at present. MAIT provides Bachelor's Degree in five disciplines of Engineering - Mechanical and Automation Engineering (180 students intake each),Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering  (240 students intake), Computer Science & Technology , Information Technology and Engineering (60 students intake each) , Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology, and Postgraduate degree in Master of Business Administration (180 students intake).

The alumni has been contributing significantly toacademics, business,social domains, industry, research, and government.Its alumni have also distinguished themselves through their achievements.  The institute regularly work closely with the alumni to motivate students and fulfill its activities through continuous interactions in academic and research programmes.The overall environment provides a quality learning atmosphere for students that influence societal contributions, culture, art,sports,  human values and self-governance.

One of the establishing branches of MAIT since 1999, The Department of Mechanical Engineering has shown predictable development in different exercises and execution of its students. The office has a group of exceptionally experienced and inspired employees who are in the cycle of turning youthful personalities to make them around the world serious. The majority of the employees are either PhD or seeking after PhD from a well-known Institute. The division has condition of-craftsmanship lab hardware for different Labs viz. FMS Lab, Robotics Lab, Mechatronics Lab, Metrology Lab, Theory of Machine Lab.

Temperature Transfer Lab, Refrigeration Lab, Strength of Material Lab, Fluid Mechanics and Fluid Machines Lab and so on The Department has various ventures Lab for equipment and reproduction-based tasks. The Departmental Library has more than 500 books of global standard. The current admission of the student is 180 for B.Tech. in MAE branch. Admission to different programmes is based solely on the results of the National Testing Agency's Joint Entrance Exam (JEE)-Mains (NTA). The students are named according to their All-India Rank in their respective JEE exams (Mains). The University organises two levels of counselling to complete the admissions process. Admission is based on a management quota. According to GGSIP University regulations, the management quota fills 10% of the seats in each course on a merit basis. Applications for the seats are advertised in newspapers.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ENTRANCE

Pass 12th Class in CBSE's 10+2 pattern or similar with a minimum aggregate of 55 percent in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, assuming the applicant passed each subject separately. In addition, the candidate must have passed the qualifying test with English as a subject (core, elective, or functional).

After the registration , all india rank is given to all candidates based on JEE mains score. The cut off for admission is decided as per counselling process. The cut off are different for Delhi Quota and non Delhi Quota students. Usually, cut off is higher ( means lesser competition) for Delhi region candidate vis a vis Outside Delhi candidates. For management quota seats, admissions are given on criteria set up by institute.
