ABOUT THE COLLEGE

Kamal Institute of Higher Education and Advanced technology (KIHEAT) is a private college in Mohan Garden, New Delhi set-up by Sankalpa Educational Welfare and Charitable Society (Regd.). The college is recognized by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and was established in the year 2001. It is affiliated to the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University which is approved by AICTE and Accredited Grade ‘A’ by NAAC. This institute offers undergraduate education in Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communication BA (JMC), Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA), Bachelor of Commerce B. Com (H) and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.).

ABOUT THE COURSE

The Bachelor’s in Journalism and Mass Communication (BJMC) is 3 years (6 semesters) undergraduate honours programme which is the most preferred course among the students who are always curious about the happenings going around them and wants to master the skills of writing and reporting through mass media platforms.

During the course the subjects covered by the students are Introduction to Communication, Socio-Economic and Political Scenario, Basics of Designs and Graphics, Print Journalism, Still Photography, Development and Communication, Radio Journalism and Production, Media Laws and Ethics etc. 

 

 

 

STRUCTURE OF THE COURSE

The BA (JMC) course is divided into 3 years and further divided into 6 semesters. An academic calendar consists of 2 semesters of Theory course as well as Practical course.

The vision of this course is to prepare young men and women who may act as leaders and are capable of facing environmental challenges for the promotion of economic and social development of the country and are also able to play a creative role in the uplift of the mankind.

The mission of this course is to lay greater emphasis on a pattern of education which is a queer mixture of traditional, cultural and moral values with the use of new technology Teacher Education, Management and Information Technology which aims to convert dreams of students into reality and every course becomes a joyful journey towards excellence.

 

OBJECTIVE

The objective of this course is to provide a harmonious mix of classroom learning with practical approach by adopting an innovative method such as case studies, seminars, quizzes, debates, regular industrial visits, live recording sessions, news anchoring, documentaries etc for adequate learning in the fast development Mass Media sector in India. It also aims to impart knowledge along with analytical proficiency and communication skills among the students.

The BJMC graduates are highly in demand in the country and has various job opportunities as a Reporter, Editor, Photojournalist, Journalist and Screenwriter in Publishing House, Broadcasting, Advertising Agencies, Press Information, Newspapers, E-Magazines etc.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • A candidate eligible for admission to the 3-year BA (JMC) undergraduate degree course must be Passed in 12th Class of 10+2 of CBSE or equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate* and must also have passed English (core or elective or functional) as a subject.

 

ADMISSION PROCESS

  • The candidates must apply through CUET for the admission to any of the courses offered by KIHEAT.
  • The candidates who meet the minimum eligibility criteria is then required to attend the counselling session for further screening process.
  • The candidates who qualify CUET are only eligible for the admission in the college.

After the CUET, all india rank is given to all candidates. The cut off for admission is decided as per counselling process. The cut off are different for Delhi Quota and non Delhi Quota students. Usually, cut off is higher ( means lesser competition) for Delhi region candidate vis a vis Outside Delhi candidates. For management quota seats, admissions are given on criteria set up by institute . The appearance in CUET is mandatory to be eligible for management quota seats.
